Impact of light and colour on architecture

According to the researchers, the main importance for the perception of reality is the construction of the eye. It is the structure that makes us perceive the sum of colours revealed in the light, the structure of the observed materials and their shape. However, light and colour play a decisive role. It is enough to place any form in daylight or artificial light, cold or warm, so that the object has a completely different form for reception.

Changes in colour in internal and external space

How we perceive external and internal architecture depends mainly on the number and size of objects we observe, their form, structure and way of light reflection.

The designers unanimously claim that changes on the planes in external spaces will only be noticeable if the designer wants to emphasize them with e.g. a contrast or a complete transformation of the existing colour.

Interior stylists have a much easier task. Attracting the viewer's attention with seemingly insignificant details, emphasizing the character of the decor, the interest of the observer in spot lighting provides opportunities limited in practice only by the designer's imagination.

Thinking about a well thought-out, designed to draw the attention of the interior design, it is worth paying attention to the colours. Of particular importance are the colours, which are covered by artificial light and rather warm. White in such an illumination will take on a shade of yellow, blue will be perceived as green, and grey tones, depending on the admixtures, are perceived as colour notes unrelated to grey.

Playing chiaroscuro

It's amazing how spectacular changes in a room can be achieved with the right lighting. Please note that light reflecting from one surface can illuminate another surface. Of course, we take a correction for the fact that the light reflected from the local colour takes on a note of this colour. The lighter the colour, similar to white, the more it reflects the colour of the original wall, in practice black absorbs light almost entirely.

By illuminating small architectural objects at a certain angle, you can paint vertical shadows on the walls, visually raising the room or horizontal lines that visually lower the ceiling.

All elements having a convex structure adequately illuminated allow to deepen the 3D effect and emphasize the style of the object. The right light will allow to emphasize the saturation of colors and pay attention to detail. The use of spot lamps is very good in this case.

Colour and detail in the interior

This is a very important issue, often unnoticed by the designer or investor. More and more often an architect and investor talk about memories, sentimental journeys, sociological or architectural preferences. This allows the designer to create a concept that arouses or calms down emotions. This is of great importance for a comfortable life in your dream apartment or house. You can mark nice memories with details, such as exotic decors. The colours of the rooms must harmonize with the nature of the investor, how to calm down, and otherwise emphasize emotions.
